Wallen Chiwawa (29) who works in the drafting section at the Attorney-General’s Office had been accused of rubbing salt and hot curry powder on his wife’s private parts.
The charges were however, withdrawn with the consent of his wife after they reached a compromise.
Chiwawa yesterday appeared before Mr Munamato Mutevedzi where the State led by Miss Rufaro Mhandu dropped the charges.
It was the State’s case that on May 6, Chiwawa summoned his wife from her workplace in Kadoma to Harare to discuss issues.
The woman arrived in Harare and met Chiwawa in the city centre.
The State had alleged that Chiwawa accused his wife of having an affair with his uncle who stays in Marlborough.
The couple has one child.
Chiwawa and his wife went to their home in Mabelreign and he allegedly started insulting his wife.
The State had also accused Chiwawa of a*saulting the woman when they dropped off a commuter omnibus.
Chiwawa allegedly locked the door to their lodgings, switched on an iron before burning his wife on the buttocks and thighs.
He allegedly a*saulted her with a cooking stick and an umbrella on the private parts.
The State had also alleged that Chiwawa raped the woman six times while she was in pain.
It further alleged that Chiwawa rubbed salt and hot curry powder onto her private parts bragging that he was a lawyer in the AG’s Office who could not be messed with.
He allegedly confiscated the wo-man’s house keys and cellphone.
He released her the following day and dropped her in the city centre.
She reported the matter to her sister who made a police report leading to Chiwawa’s arrest.
